benefits of fostering with local authority

All children who need a foster carer are the responsibility of the local authority and we approach our in-house foster carers first whenever we need to place a child.

It’s only when we can’t find the right match within our foster carer cohort do we then approach independent fostering agencies to see if they have suitable foster carers. We are fortunate to be able to place over 65% of Anglesey children needing a foster home with our own foster families.

our role

As we are responsible for all children in need of care and we know our foster carers really well, we can get the right match for everyone. By fostering direct with us, you’ll be a key part of a team with a depth of insight and knowledge about the child’s journey, local services and schools that is invaluable to foster carers.

not-for-profit

As a not-for-profit organisation, all our funding goes directly into the fostering service we provide. We work as one big team to help build better futures for local children living in our community by helping them stay local, when it’s right for them, and creating better outcomes for them.

We are friendly, familiar and understand the realities of life in your community. We have local knowledge of both our children and our foster carers, and are available whenever you need us. You will always be supported.

Dee and Rob's story

Rob & Dee

“We fostered with a private agency for nearly a decade. They weren’t based local, and were bought out by a big International company. We soon realised that it was all about making money, and that the profit they were making wasn’t going back into the fostering service either.

We weren’t happy and didn’t want to stay with them. We were fostering children from Anglesey anyway so we felt it made sense to cut out the ‘middle man’ and foster directly with our local authority.

We now have a voice. We have support around and near us. We are part of a special fostering community. I only wish we had transferred sooner.”
